Incoming Freshmen

All students new to District 204 must enroll through our online enrollment application process. Before you begin the Online Enrollment Application, please gather the following information and documents:

When you are ready to begin the application, click the button below and write down your application number in case you need to reference it later. PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT WHEN YOU REGISTER YOUR INCOMING FRESHMEN YOU SELECT "CLASS OF 2027 FRESHMAN REGISTRATION" WHEN SELECTING THE REGISTRATION YEAR.

BEGIN ONLINE ENROLLMENT

When you complete the enrollment process and your online application has been approved, you will receive a confirmation email. Only families with approved applications will receive an email with details on scheduling a meeting with a Joliet West staff member to discuss course selections. If you have questions or concerns contact Ms. Orasco (roorasco@jths.org) or Ms. Paramo (vparamo@jths.org) with your application number.

The online registration process must be completed before courses can be selected. Once your online registration is approved by the Joliet West Registrar’s Office, you will receive an email with a link to sign up for a course selection meeting with a Joliet West school counselor. All incoming freshmen will be placed in courses which meet their educational needs. Students will be enrolled into 9th Grade English, Math, Social Science, and Science courses based on PSAT 8 Scores and 8th grade teacher recommendations. To plan your course selections, use the resources below.

Joliet West High School offers several electives that students can select. If you have questions regarding course selection or electives, contact your student’s school counselor. We look forward to meeting all future Tigers!

Freshmen Elective Course Offerings

Joliet West Guidance Office

Illinois law specifies that we must exclude students from school for incomplete health requirements.  All incoming freshman students must have a completed high school physical with all immunization dates on file before October 15th of each school year. It is important for the health of the whole student body to make certain that all students are in compliance with all health requirements that are mandated by the state of Illinois. 

How to Submit Proof of Physical/Immunizations
You can drop off your physical exam/immunizations to Joliet West’s Main Entrance - Door 1 during normal school hours, email health forms electronically to mfuentes@jths.org, or fax them to 815-774-1646. Students need to submit their health forms by October 15, 2024. If forms are not turned in by this date, students will be excluded from school on October 16th pursuant to Illinois School Code (105 ILCS 5/27-8.1).

Free Incoming Freshman T-Shirt
Students who submit a completed form by July 1, 2024, will receive a free class t-shirt. T-shirts will be delivered during the first week of school.

Completing the Physical Exam Form & What You Need
The Child Health Examination Form that is needed for proof of the physical/immunizations can be accessed HERE on the nurse’s webpage. It is a two-sided document and both sides must be filled out. On page 2, there is a section called “student health history” which must be filled out by the parent/guardian and MUST BE SIGNED and dated. The physical is considered incomplete without this section. Please make certain that your student’s healthcare provider has documented the height, weight, blood pressure and BMI on the form and has completed the diabetes screening. This screening does not require a blood test. The form has a series of questions that must be answered by the provider conducting the physical exam. In addition, students entering grades 7 through 12 who have not already received a Tdap vaccination are required to receive 1 Tdap dose regardless of the interval since the last DTaP, DT or Td dose. Failure to complete any of the above will result in the form being returned for completion. 

Make a Copy for Your Records
Please make a copy of the completed form and keep it in a safe place. These records will be necessary for attending college, day camps, the military and some jobs. If your student is going to participate in sports, you should make and save an additional copy of the physical to be used as his or her sports physical. Do not give the Athletic Office the original form.

Advice for Incoming Freshmen

While Joliet Township High School District 204 (JTHS) serves over 6,600 students, our schools are designed with an academy structure to provide small schools within a large setting.  All ninth-grade students enter the Freshman Academy which is specifically designed to ensure a successful transition to high school.  Features of the Freshman Academy include an 8-period day where all freshmen arrive an hour earlier than their upper-class peers, and freshman classes are housed in a common wing of the school.   
 
Freshman Academy Coordinator  
Freshman teachers work as a team under the direction of the Freshman Academy Coordinator. The Freshman Academy Coordinator serves the bridge between freshman students, families and teachers.  If you are a parent or guardian of a freshman, we welcome you to reach out to the Freshman Academy Coordinator for assistance or with questions.

Our Family Engagement Liaisons speak English and Spanish and are dedicated to welcoming and supporting parents and guardians as they navigate their child's education. Parents and guardians are encouraged to reach out to our Family Engagement Liaisons for assistance with checking grades online, information regarding school resources, Spanish interpretation, and more. Our Family Engagement liaisons serve as a bridge between the school and home.  We know that our schools are large and that we have many staff members. If you do not know who to contact for assistance, our liaisons will put you in contact with the appropriate staff member.

Gym Uniform
Gym uniforms are available for purchase during schedule pick-up week.  Uniforms are also available for purchase at Ken Woody Sport, located at 2225 W. Jefferson Street #A, Joliet 60435.

Additional Supplies
Teachers will communicate any supplies that are needed through their class syllabus. 

Campus Parent, our online student management system, allows parents/guardians to view student schedules, assignments, grades, attendance, and contact information for deans, school counselors, and teachers.  Campus Parent can be accessed online or through an app.  Short video tutorials and additional information can be found below. 

Campus Parent Resources

Incoming Freshman families will not be able to access the Campus Parent portal until after the start of the school year. Please monitor your email account during the month of August for more information and an activation code to access the Campus Parent Portal.

The $160 Instructional Material and Supply Fee, which covers the cost of items such as laptop computers and textbooks, must be paid online through the MySchoolBucks system.  All school fees must be paid for students to attend dances. 

 How to Use MySchoolBucks  

1. Go to www.myschoolbucks.com or download the mobile app MSB Parent, USA (IOS or Android)  
2. If you have not already done so, create your free parent/guardian account and add your student(s) using their school name/student ID.    
3. Add school items or invoices to your cart  
4. Check out using your credit/debit card or electronic check
