District Donor Scholarships

District scholarship donors review application materials and select scholarship recipients.  Please review the criteria for each scholarship and apply to as many as you wish, based on the criteria. Scholarship recipients will be awarded on Senior Awards Night.

  1. Complete an application form
  2. Must have maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.0/4.0
  3. Other things being equal, financial need will be considered an important factor
  4. Must be accepted and enrolled at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign or Chicago campus full time
  5. One (1) letter of recommendation from a current or former teacher required

Scholarship Criteria

  1. Recipient of the scholarship must be a graduating senior who plans to enroll at a post-secondary education institution.  This can be a university, college, junior college, or a vocational/technical school
  2. Recipient must be a JT student who has participated in an IHSA or JT sanctioned sporting activity. (For Cheerleading and Poms; fall and competition season are considered two separate sports)
  3. Recipient must be a JT senior athlete who has participated in at least two (2) IHSA or JT sanctioned sports and at least six (6) seasons of IHSA or JT sanctioned sports during their athletic career
  4. Recipient must be a JT senior athlete who has demonstrated leadership and sportsmanship while involved in high school athletics
  5. Recipient must have a high school overall GPA of 3.0 or higher

This scholarship will be selected by the District Scholarship Committee at each campus.

First Lady of the Arts Scholarship for Female Students of Color pursuing Theatre, Music, Dance or Visual Arts

  3. Identify as a female

  7. Complete a 500-1,000-word essay based on one of the following JTHS alumni of color and your personal connection to their career or artistic product: Examples include: Katherine Dunham (1926), Lynne Thigpen (1966), and Ann Nesby (1973)
