Joliet West Students Selected to ILMEA State Ensembles

Five Joliet West High School musicians were selected to the prestigious Illinois Music Education Association All-State Bands, Choirs, and Orchestras. Payton Fraser, Soprano, and Zinnia Manning, Alto, were selected to perform in the Honors Chorus;  Lucas Hobbs, String Bass, was selected to perform in the Orchestra; Reid Hogan, Tuba, and Derrick Neal, Trombone, were selected to perform in the Band.

Students from across the state are chosen based on their audition in the fall and participation in the District Festivals held throughout November. The students will spend 3 days in Peoria rehearsing with other outstanding musicians from across Illinois, culminating in a concert on January 29.

“We are very proud of our students on their selection to these prestigious ensembles,” said Choir director Tim DeBoer, Orchestra Director Peter Lipari, and Band Directors Eric Wellman and Alyson Bauman.
“Being selected out of the many outstanding musicians in the state is a great honor and a tribute to their talent and work ethic.”
