Dear Students and Parents,
This week I want to remind students that the remote learning schedule was designed with built-in time for extra support. Although classes are over after period 6 each day, we are here to support students throughout the afternoon. Deans, counselors, social workers and other support staff may schedule appointments with students between 1:00 – 2:55 pm to avoid conflicting with classes in the morning. Also, teachers have office hours during this time, and we encourage you to check with individual teachers regarding when they’re available.
Progress Reports will be available to through the Campus Parent and Campus Student portals on September 29. Please take advantage of the extra support offered if it is needed.
New Tutoring Program
In order to further support students outside the regularly scheduled school day, a new tutoring program will be available for the subjects of English, Math, Social Science, and Science. Starting October 15, students can request an appointment for free afterschool online tutoring that is provided by JTHS teachers. Tutoring sessions will take place during the week and on evenings and weekends. The links to request tutoring sessions will be sent to you soon.
Reporting Bullying, School Violence, Harassment & Intimidation
Although students are not in the school building, this does not mean that bullying cannot occur. Bullying can still take place online, through social media or in other situations.
Students, parents, and community members should always report and instances of bullying, intimidation, harassment and school violence. We can only address the situation if we know about it. If you see something, say something.
Use the form below to submit a report. The form can be submitted anonymously, if you choose, and photos and videos can be uploaded as evidence. In addition, students, families, and community members can always reach out to teachers, administrators, and staff if there is a concern.
Report Form for Bullying and School Violence
School Violence Tip Line
Parents, students, and community members can call the School Violence Tip Line at 1-800-477-0024 if you know of a security or safety issue. This will anonymously alert school officials of threats of violence in school.
COVID-19 Testing in Romeoville on September 26, 2020
The State of Illinois is sponsoring a community Drive-Through & Walk-Up COVID-19 test site at 1050 W. Romeo Road in Romeoville on Saturday, September 26 from 9:00am to 5:00pm. Simple nasal swabs will be used. You will be called with results within 4-7 days. No cost for testing. Bring your insurance card, but you can still be tested if you don't have insurance. Anyone can get tested! You don't have to have symptoms or be sick. Visit DPH.ILLINOIS.GOV/COVID19 for more information.
Last Day to Complete the US Census is Sept. 30
September 30, 2020 is the last day to complete the US Census. If we do not count every Illinois resident, this will have a devastating effect on funding. Census counts impact funding for Medicaid, SNAP, Section 8 housing, Children’s Health Insurance Program, WIC, educational grants and more. Even a one percent undercount would result in the State losing $19,557,435 per year for 10 years, resulting in a total loss of $195,574,350.
Families can take the census online at my2020census.gov, by phone at (844) 330-2020, or by sending back the form families received in the mail from the U.S. Census Bureau. Everyone counts. Please take the US Census before September 30.
