Principal’s Message – Mobile Food Pantry and More

Dear Parents and Students, 
 
There are many helpful resources in today’s email.   
 
Mobile Food Pantry Monday at Central 
All families are welcome to pick up food from the Mobile Food Pantry at Joliet Central on Monday, April 26 from 1 to 2:30 p.m.  This is drive thru contactless pickup.  The food pantry is made possible thanks to generous sponsorship from Spesia and Taylor, Attorneys at Law. 
 
Virtual Literary Magazine 
Ms. Galloy’s 6th period Multimedia Journalism class is proud to share the 2021 Virtual Literary Magazine.  The magazine, created by students from Central and West, includes student artwork, photography, poetry, and more!   
 
Walk-In Vaccine Clinic @ West April 28 from 12 to 2 PM 
Will County residents ages 16 and older can receive a COVID vaccine without an appointment at the Joliet West Clinic on Wednesday, April 28 from 12 to 2 p.m.  You must bring your ID to receive the vaccine.  Complete the April 28 Walk-In Vaccine Clinic Form by Sunday at 5 p.m. so the clinic know how many vaccines are needed.  
 
Vaccine Appointments by Phone 
If you cannot attend the Walk-In Clinic on Wednesday, there is now a phone number you can call to make your appointment over the phone in English and Spanish.  Call (815) 774-7386, Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Callers can leave a voice message.  The vaccine locations are at the old Toys R Us (National Guard), Joliet West, and the Will County Health Department Vaccine Clinic.  More info here:  https://willcountyhealth.org/vaccine-locations/

Chicago State University Survey 
The College of Education at Chicago State University is conducting a survey to examine the challenges that educators and families in Illinois’ schools faced during the transition to remote learning.  If you are interested in taking the survey, use this link: https://csu.az1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_cGZnSxwvKTHOPop. Taking this survey is voluntary. You do not have to answer the survey if you do not want to. 
 
Adulting 101 Webinar Registration Closes Tuesday, April 27 
Female high school seniors and college students have until Tuesday, April 27 to register for the Adulting 101 webinar featuring Dr. Susan Scanlon, Board Certified Gynecologist and author of the Gyne’s Guide for College Women; Julie Edwards, Director of Health Promotion at the University of Chicago; and Allison Heard, USF’s Director of Institutional Diversity.  Topics include birth control, consent, date rape, mental health, diversity and inclusion. 
 
The webinar takes place on April 28 from 1:30 p.m. to 3:45 p.m. Register HERE. Attendees have the opportunity to win prizes and giveaways. 
 
What’s Your Plan & How Can We Help?   
On Tuesday, May 4, Lewis University, National Hook-Up of Black Women, Silver Cross Hospital, and the Spanish Community Center will host a conversation on the importance of post-high school success.  The virtual event takes place from 7 to 8 p.m.  Register using this link
