Joliet West High School’s PPS Team is in an active partnership with parents and community and will promote excellence in a caring, supporting environment, in which all students learn and grow. This partnership shall empower all students to develop strong self-esteem, become responsible learners and decision-makers. PPS partners with the school wide commitment to developing and using a visionary and innovative curriculum and a knowledgeable and dedicated staff.

Guidance counselors and the student assistance coordinator are also a part of the school wide behavior management system. In their roles they provide assistance to the students, parents, and staff of the Joliet West High School Community. Their goal is to address, assist, and remediate academic and/or personal concerns before they have a serious effect on the student or the school.

Registration for 2024-2025 online tutoring appointments opens Monday, September 23.

                                      Sign Up For Tutoring
JTHS students can sign up for free virtual tutoring sessions provided by JTHS teachers. Tutoring is available after school and on weekends. There is no limit on the number of tutoring sessions a student can sign up for throughout the school year; however, frequent cancelations may be addressed by staff. Parents may also request a tutoring session on behalf of their student by providing the student's ID number.

Tutoring is available in the following subjects:
English
Math
Science
World Languages - Spanish

If tutoring is not listed for the class in which you need assistance, please contact your teacher for additional support. 

Philosophy

• All students’ cultural heritage/ethnicity & race are linked within their adolescent development; therefore, it is essential to respect differences in cultural and learning needs.
• In coordination with administration, parents, teachers, and community, we will provide age appropriate academic, career, and social development while instilling individual responsibility among all students.  
• Parents/ guardians, staff, and community members are necessary entities to work in collaboration with one another to support student achievement.
• Support Services will be based on measurable means derived and interpreted from qualitative and quantitative data.

JTHS partners with community agencies to address life issues that significantly impacts a student’s education.  Through these partnerships, students receives services both during and outside of school day to empower them to become successful in life.  The partnerships also work with the entire family to help ensure success.
