The primary goal of the Summer Reading Program is for students to have a pleasurable and positive summer reading experience. When students read for pleasure during the summer, it helps to maintain reading and thinking skills developed during the school year.
In 2014 a committee of faculty and administration developed a process for selecting a summer reading book that included several opportunities for faculty, parents and students to provide feedback on potential summer book selections which concluded with students voting for the summer reading book of their choice. We believe that giving students and our community opportunities for input and feedback leads to a stronger book choice and more student ownership of the program.
