Students will receive safe instruction in the safe operation of motor vehicles, rules of the road, and the laws of the State relating to motor vehicles. The course meets the legal requirements of the State in preparing students to become safe and efficient users of the highway transportation system.
Driver Education is taught in three phases:
- Classroom Instruction (30 hours)
- Simulation
- Behind the Wheel Driving (6 hours)

There are 20 total class dates (30 hours).
Students should not miss more than 2 classes during the classroom setting so that they meet clock hours set forth by the Secretary of State.
Students who miss more than 2 classes will not be passed and will need to re-enroll.

Simulator sessions will vary in time based upon the Drivers Ed Session.
Instructors will assign dates and times.
Students will complete a total of 4 hours of simulation.

Each student will complete a total of 6 hours.
Students will be scheduled before/after class, during school lunch/advisory/study hall periods, and/or Saturdays.
Behind-The-Wheel sessions will be scheduled by the instructor on an individual basis.

Parents are responsible for a minimum of 50 hours of supervised driving (of which 10 hours must be night driving) with their son/daughter and to record this on their 50 hour driving log which is to be turned in when the student obtains his/her license.
