JTHS invites you to our next community event, the Community Connections Expo on Thursday, February 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Joliet West. Open to the entire community, the event will feature a Job and Community Resource Fair, food, raffles, musical entertainment provided by the Joliet West Band, informative empowerment session, spirit wear sales, Esports gaming and more! Students will receive 2 Community Service hours for attending an empowerment session.
Joliet East Alumni Night – Tonight
Today, Friday, February 7, the Joliet Central High School Boys & Girls Varsity Basketball Teams will honor Joliet East High School alumni during a doubleheader. The Varsity Girls play at 5 pm with the Varsity Boys game following at 6:30 p.m. Come see our Steelmen in action as they compete in Joliet East jerseys to represent the Kingsmen pride. All East alumni receive free entry to the games and should complete the East Ticket Request Form by February 6 at noon. Names are added to a pass list and alumni will be asked to show ID at the door.
JTHS Orchestra “Support the Score” Campaign to Commission Music for 120th Anniversary
The JTHS Orchestra is proud to announce the launch of the “Support the Score” Campaign, an initiative to commission a brand-new orchestral composition in celebration of the program’s 120th anniversary. This historic piece will be performed by the talented student musicians of the JTHS Orchestra, uniting the past, present, and future of the school’s rich musical tradition. The campaign is now live. Veterinary Mentoring Program – Apply Now
The Veterinary Mentoring Program (VMP) offers a free, virtual, monthly seminar series for sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in animal medicine. From September to April, students will hear from veterinary specialists about their career paths, daily work, and advice for getting started in the field. There are also optional in-person opportunities, including clinic shadowing at Anti-Cruelty and a trip to the U of I Vet Med campus via charter bus. NFL Flag Football League for Kids of All Ages & Skill Levels
The Galowich Family YMCA, in partnership with Joliet Junior College, is excited to offer a new NFL FLAG Football League this spring. NFL FLAG is the largest flag football league in the U.S., and the only league where players can wear official NFL gear. Kids of all ages and skill levels will participate in a safe, non-contact environment, allowing boys and girls the opportunity to learn the fundamentals of football. Joliet West Bring Your Boo/Bestie Bingo – Feb. 12
The Tiger Pride Leadership Council is hosting a Bring Your Boo/Bestie to Bingo for students and staff on Wednesday, February 12, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. This will be a fun event for students and staff with prizes for Bingo winners and snacks/drinks for all participants. JRECC Meeting – Feb. 14
Members of community and faith-based organizations are invited to attend our next Joliet Region Education Community Connectors (JRECC) Meeting on February 14 at the JTHS Administrative Center. Breakfast is available at 7:30 a.m. and the meeting will conclude no later than 10 a.m. Spanish interpretation is available. Attendees will hear an informative presentation from Kaprinta Marek from the Will County Community Health Center and from Megan Gunier from the Joliet West Cool Down Room. Complete the JRECC Meeting RSVP Form if you will attend.
Grandparents Raising Children – Feb. 18
The next Grandparents Raising Children support group meeting is February 18 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the JTHS Administrative Center. The group provides fellowship and assistance to grandparents and non-custodial caregivers on navigating the educational and public service aid systems. JTHS Board of Education Meeting – Feb. 18
The JTHS Board of Education invites families and the community to their next regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. on February 18 at the Administrative Center. Agendas are posted at least 48 hours before the meeting. Meetings are live-streamed. Individuals wishing to make public comments must sign up upon arrival before 6:50 p.m.
Will County CED Summer Internship Application Deadline – Feb. 21
There are 147 paid summer internship opportunities available to select Will County School Districts, including JTHS, thanks to a partnership with the Will County Center for Economic Development (CED) and its Will County Summer Internship Program! All internship descriptions and applications are available on the Will County CED Summer Internship Program Website or students can use the direct link to the application. Graduating seniors (Class of 2025) may also apply for these internships. The application deadline is February 21.
Joliet West Black & White Dance – Feb. 22
The Joliet West High School Black and White Dance is back and will be Saturday, February 22 from 6 to 9 p.m.! Tickets are now on sale in the bookstore for $25. Date forms can be picked up in the main office, and are due by Monday, February 10. A payment towards student fees is required to attend the dance. In order for students who owe fees to be eligible to purchase dance tickets, they must make an arrangement through the Principal’s Office.
Early Release School Improvement Day – Feb. 27
February 27 is School Improvement Day and early release for students. Students will follow the “B” Schedule. Central, West, and Pathway students are dismissed from school at 11:45 a.m. AVAC students are dismissed at 11:30 a.m., and Transition Center students are dismissed at 10:45 a.m. Click on the links below to view the attendance calendar.

African American Read-In – Feb. 28
In honor of Black History Month, the Joliet Central Black Student Union and the National Hook-Up of Black Women, Inc., Joliet Chapter, are partnering to host an African American Read-In on Friday, February 28, in the Joliet Central Auditorium at 2:15 p.m. Members of the community are invited to attend. The theme is “How Black Music Shaped America.” Guests should enter the building through J Door, located across from Eastern Avenue, and may park in available spots.
JTHS Foundation Trivia Event – March 9
The Joliet Township High School Foundation invites you to its 19th annual Trivia Event on Sunday, March 9 at 176 West Banquets, 1100 NE Frontage Road in Joliet. Doors open at 2 p.m. with trivia starting at 3 p.m. All proceeds benefit the JTHS Foundation and their mission of providing educational grants and scholarships to students and staff.
