2023-2024 School Year Calendar 
 
The 2023-2024 school year calendar can be accessed through the links below.  The first day of student attendance for the 2023-2024 school year is Wednesday, August 16.

Summer School  
Summer school takes place at Joliet West High School with Session 1 (June 5 – June 22) and Session 2 (June 26 – July 20).  Classes are available for credit recovery and advancement.  For more information, including the link to register for Session 2, visit the 2023 Summer School Webpage
 
Service Academy Applications Now Accepted 

Congresswoman Underwood’s Office is accepting Service Academy Nomination Applications now until November 30, 2023. Rising seniors who are planning to apply to either the U.S. Military Academy (West Point, NY), the U.S. Naval Academy (Annapolis, MD), the U.S. Air Force Academy (Colorado Springs, CO), or the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy (Kings Point, NY) require a nomination to apply.  View the Service Academy Application Announcement for the application and more information. 
 
Free Summer Meals for Children 18 and Under 
Free meals are available during the summer to all children 18 and under, regardless of income level.  This Illinois State Board of Education program has several Joliet-area sites that offer breakfast, lunch, or both.  For more information, call (800) 359-2163, text FOODIL to 877877 or visit www.SummerMealsIllinois.org. 
 
Summer Internship Opportunities – Don’t Miss Out! 
Paid summer internships are available to JTHS students.  Applications are still being accepted.  Summer internships opportunities and application forms can be accessed via the Summer Internship Webpage.  If you have questions about summer internships, contact Ms. Clark at (815) 774-1692 or sclark@jths.org.  

JTHS Manufacturing Summer Boot Camp – May 30 to June 12 
A free 10-day summer training will take place May 30 to June 12 at Joliet West High School.  Students will receive certifications and badges in CNC Machine Operator Fundamentals, Forklift, OSHA 10, and career readiness.  Complete the JTHS Manufacturing Summer Boot Camp Registration Form to begin the application process. Additional information can be found in the JTHS Manufacturing Boot Camp English Flyer.  

 
Student Community Service Opportunity – JTHS Foundation Golf Outing 

Student volunteers are needed for the Foundation Golf Outing on Thursday, June 15, at Inwood Golf Club from noon to 5 p.m.  Volunteers will help in a variety of areas, including registration, raffles, hole monitors/subs, and other tasks as needed.  Students will receive community service hours and should bring a copy of the Community Service Form to the event so that service hours are documented. JTHS Board of Education Meeting – June 20 
The next regularly scheduled Board of Education meeting is 7 p.m. on June 20 at the Administrative Center. Agendas are posted at least 48 hours prior to the meeting HERE. Meetings are live streamed HERE. Individuals wishing to make public comments must sign up upon arrival before 6:50 p.m.  Spanish interpretation is provided.
