Marriah Guzman-Martinez, a proud 2024 graduate of Joliet Central High School, who is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree with an emphasis in Art Education at School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC).

Marriah is already making an incredible impact in the world of education and the arts. She was recently accepted into the prestigious Golden Apple Scholars Program for the 2026 school year and has earned multiple scholarships for her academic excellence and dedication, including the Chicago Fund Scholarship and the Distinguished Scholars Scholarship at SAIC.

Her journey is a testament to perseverance, passion, and purpose. Marriah encourages current students to embrace every opportunity for growth and to never stop pursuing their dreams. She shares this inspiring message:

“No matter what kind of situation you come from, learning from your situation and from the people around you is the most important thing in life. Everyone has dreams; it is your responsibility to follow through and accept the people that are willing to help you.”
