JTHS teachers Soyini Chism and Doug Fowler successfully defended dissertations, earning doctorate degrees and knowledge that will benefit their students.

Dr. Chism, a Physical Education teacher at Central, received her Doctorate Degree at Northern Illinois University in Curriculum Leadership. Her dissertation was Motivating High School Students in a Blended Physical Education Learning Environment; A Self-Determination Theory Analysis.

Dr. Fowler, a Social Science teacher at West, received his Ph.D in Special Education at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). His dissertation was Instructional Practices and Perceptions of Special Educators in Blended Learning Environments. JTHS congratulates Dr. Chism and Dr. Fowler on advancing their education.
