Joliet Central’s Drama Department Receives Exemplary Rating at IHSA Short Film Competition

Joliet Central’s Drama Department received an exemplary rating for their short film submission at the IHSA Short Film Competition March 29, 2021. The short film, Persp3ctives, was written, filmed, and produced by Joliet Central students Sebastian Zamudio, Mallory Arend, Keegan Srebro, Rachel Dunne, Zoey Denson, Arie Bennett, and Adelma Chavez, starring Zoey Denson, Adelma Chavez, and Rachel Dunne.

Central’s virtual submission was judged by a state panel of three judges who all gave the film an exemplary rating.

Drama Director Joseph Hoyt commented, “I'm grateful that the IHSA has offered another opportunity for our students to be creative and showcase their talents. The best part of the short film experience was watching our students write, direct, edit, and act in this amazing short film. I'm so proud of our kids in achieving the highest rating in our first year of competition.”

This was the debut year for the IHSA Short Film Competition and the Joliet Central Drama Department is looking forward to building on this achievement next year when IHSA expands the competition to an official State Series.
