Superintendent’s Message – Nov. 19, 2021

Dear Parents and Students,

There is no school November 24-26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. JTHS is thankful for our students and families, and we wish you a happy Thanksgiving! Important information is below.

Emergency E-Learning Days
As winter weather approaches, we are communicating our school closure plan to students and families. JTHS has approval from the Illinois State Board of Education to use Emergency E-Learning Days for unscheduled school closures. The purpose of an Emergency E-Learning Day is to provide a continuum of learning for students when school needs to close unexpectedly. Emergency E-Learning Days do not need to be made up at the end of the school year because learning still takes place.

On Emergency E-Learning Days, students do not report to the school building. Students complete the assignments that teachers post online and must record their attendance one time between 9:30 and 11 a.m. via www.examlogin.com using the district-provided code posted to www.jths.org the morning of the closure. Teachers will post relevant class assignments for students to access by 9 a.m. the morning of the Emergency E-Leaning Day and are available to assist students online through their Learning Management Platform. In the event of unforeseen circumstances, students should consult with their teachers. For example, students without access to power or the internet should see their teachers the following student attendance day. Student E-Learning Instructions are HERE.

JTHS will announce the Emergency E-Learning Day by 5 a.m. the morning of the closure through email, text message, phone call, social media and the Emergency Closing Center. Text messages reach our families faster than email or phone. If you are not receiving our text messages, you can sign up by texting “Yes” to 67587.

More information about Emergency E-Learning Day procedures is HERE.
