Dear Joliet Township High School Alumni, 
 
You may or may not be aware of the recent increase in violence we are seeing in our schools.  It is heartbreaking, and it is not reflective of who we are as proud Steelmen and Tigers. Last weekend our superintendent, Dr. Karla Guseman, sent a message to students and parents addressing this behavior. You can read the letter HERE.
 
I am reaching out today on behalf of the Joliet Township High School Board of Education to ask for your help. As alumni, I hope you will consider sharing words of encouragement with our students through video. We want you to take pride in the schools you come from, but these incidents are casting a shadow over the great aspects we offer. We want to focus on the positive, and that starts with you. 
 
In THIS LINK there is a form you can complete to join our #OnwardSteelmen and #TigerPide campaign. The campaign asks you to share a video message less than one minute. You can upload your video using the link in the form. Suggested topics are below, but we ask that you speak from the heart, and create the message you feel our students need to hear. You are role models, and we believe students will listen to the alumni who walked the very same halls that they are walking today. 
 
Suggested Messages Include: 
*What it means to be a Tiger or Steelman 
*Do the right thing and think before you act -Actions impact the entire school/community 
*Teachers and staff care about you - Reach out if you need help 
*Treat your school with pride 
*Report inappropriate behavior/If you see something, say something 
*Thank the students who are doing the right thing; don’t be discouraged 
*Talk about specific resources in the community (A good topic for alumni who are employed by or affiliated with a community agency) 
 
These are just a few suggested topics, but again, we welcome all messages that come from the heart. Our goal is to post one video message per day through social media or our student news networks. We believe that by working together we can make the changes we need to see right now. #OnwardSteelmen and #TigerPride
