High School Students Can Register & Pre-Register to Vote 
The State Board of Elections has prepared a one-page document for high school-age students explaining the process for voter registration. High School students can now pre-register to vote on or after their 16th birthday and those 17 years or older can register to vote in a primary election if they will be 18 years old by the following regular election. Register and pre-register to vote online HERE or by visiting the local County Clerk, Board of Election Commissioner’s office, Secretary of State, or any other location designated by the election authority.  Find the address for your election authority HERE. College Financial Aid Workshop at St. Francis – Jan. 13 
The University of St. Francis will be hosting a free financial aid presentation on January 13 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at their main campus located at 500 Wilcox Street in Joliet. Families can learn how to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and RISE Act Alternative Application. Virtual Community Resource Fair – Jan. 15 

The MIJAS Committee of the 12th Judicial Family Violence Coordinating Council is excited to announce its first Virtual Fair for families! A virtual community resource fair is taking place Wednesday, January 15 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event will provide information on free or low-cost services available in the community. Four agencies will present topics ranging from bilingual education, access to health care, childcare services, and services for survivors of sexual and domestic abuse. Free Coats & Shoes for Kids – Jan. 16 
The Will County Center for Community Concerns will be hosting their Share the Love Event on January 16 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Children ages 2 to 11 can receive a free coat or shoes. Winter Clothing Closet for the Community 
Faith Bible Church, located at 1600 Schuster Avenue in Joliet, has free, gently used clothing for infants, children and adults. The Community Clothing Closet is open by appointment only. For more information, please call 815-723-3212 or consult the flyer.   
 
JTHS Archives Committee Meeting – Jan 16 

Are you passionate about JTHS history and the preservation of historical items? Do you want to help give school tours? If so, the Central Archives Committee is for you!!! Students, parents, alumni, and staff are welcome! The group meets at 7 p.m. on January 16 at Central in the third-floor archives area. Enter the school through the Student Center Main Entrance. Students receive community service for attending. Bring the Community Service Form to have it signed. If you have questions, contact Ms. Petronio at epetronio@jths.org.

Heartsaver CPR Training – Jan. 18
The Joliet Fire Department is hosting a class on January 18 from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. The class will teach students, families, and staff how to effectively deliver CPR and how to correctly use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) in accordance with current American Heart Association guidelines. All courses are taught by Joliet firefighters. To register and learn more, please call 815-724-3500. 

MLK Day of Service - Jan. 20
Thank you to the students and families who signed up for the MLK Day of Service which will take place on January 20 at Joliet Central. There is no school on this day. Volunteer check in and breakfast are from 7:30 to 8:15 a.m., followed by a short Welcoming Ceremony at 8:15 a.m. Volunteer service takes place from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m., and the event concludes with lunch and entertainment from 12 to 2 p.m. 

JTHS Board of Education Meeting – Jan. 21
The JTHS Board of Education invites families and the community to their next regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. on January 21 at the Administrative Center. Agendas are posted at least 48 hours before the meeting. Meetings are live-streamed. Individuals wishing to make public comments must sign up upon arrival before 6:50 p.m. 
 
Grandparents Raising Children – Jan. 21
The next Grandparents Raising Children support group meeting is January 21 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the JTHS Administrative Center. The group provides fellowship and assistance to grandparents and non-custodial caregivers on navigating the educational and public service aid systems. Steelmen & Tiger Showcase – Jan. 22

Joliet Central and West invites incoming freshmen and their families to the Steelmen and Tiger Showcase 8th Grade Info Night on January 22 at 6 p.m.  If you have an 8th grade student or know an 8th grade student who will attend Central or West next year, please attend this event or share this information.

Early Release School Improvement Day – Jan. 30
January 30 is School Improvement Day and early release for students. Students will follow the “B” Schedule. Central, West, and Pathway students are dismissed from school at 11:45 a.m. AVAC students are dismissed at 11:30 a.m., and Transition Center students are dismissed at 10:45 a.m. Click on the links below to view the attendance calendar.

Central High Band Parents Association Spaghetti Dinner – Feb. 2
The Central Band Parents Association will host its annual Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser on February 2 from 1 to 5 p.m. in the Joliet Central High School Cafeteria. Guests should enter through the main entrance off Collins Street near the circle drive. The menu includes spaghetti with savory sauce, meatballs, salad, and fresh bread and butter. Tickets are $10 per dinner, with a Family Deal of five dinners for $45. Beverages and homemade treats from the bake sale will also be available. New this year, attendees can "donate a dinner" for local charities. Donated meals will be delivered to Joliet charities on the day of the event. State of the District Address – Feb. 5
The JTHS State of the District Address is February 5 at Joliet Central High School. The event will begin with a Meet and Greet from 5 to 6 p.m., featuring appetizers, musical entertainment, and community resource vendors. The State of the District Address will follow from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The State of District Address will provide a comprehensive overview of the district’s health, including academic and financial aspects, the 5-year Strategic Plan, social-emotional supports, facilities, activities/athletics, and more. We ask that guests RSVP HERE so that we can plan accordingly. 
 
Community Connections Expo – Feb. 20

Joliet Township High School invites individuals of all ages to attend our second Community Connections Expo & Job Fair!  The event takes place on Thursday, February 20, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Joliet West High School, 401 N. Larkin Avenue in Joliet. Open to the entire community, the Community Connections Expo will feature a Job and Community Resource Fair, food, raffles, musical entertainment provided by the Joliet West Band, informative empowerment session, spirit wear sales, Esports gaming and more!  Students will receive 2 Community Service hours for attending an empowerment session. 
 
Will County CED Summer Internship Application Deadline – Feb. 21
There are 147 paid summer internship opportunities available to select Will County School Districts, including JTHS, thanks to a partnership with the Will County Center for Economic Development (CED) and its Will County Summer Internship Program! All internship descriptions and applications are available on the Will County CED Summer Internship Program Website or students can use the direct link to the application. Graduating seniors (Class of 2025) may also apply for these internships. The application deadline is February 21.
