Families and Students: 

October is Bullying Prevention Month. At our school, bullying of any kind, by any person, is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. All students should be free from worries about being bullied. We encourage all students, staff, parents, and community members to speak up if they witness bullying or any safety concerns. Below are the ways to report an incident or get help: 

  • Use the Bullying Report Form — This form allows you to report bullying anonymously or include your name. You can also upload pictures or videos as evidence. 

  • Reach out to a staff member or trusted adult — Find contact information in the Staff Directory or use the Contact Us form on our website. 

  • Call the School Violence Tip Line — Report concerns anonymously at 1-800-477-0024. 

  • Connect with the school counselor — You can also fill out the Request for Support Form and a team of school support staff will review and respond to the request. 

  • Mental health resources: 
    - Dial 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline 
    - Text HOME to 741741 to connect with the Crisis Text Line

Community Service for JTHS Students – Neighborhood Cleanup & Bake Sale Oct. 4 
Looking for a fun and impactful way to earn community service hours? Join the “Love Where You Live” Neighborhood Cleanup & Bake Sale on Saturday, October 4, from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Joliet. This student-friendly event offers 4 service hours, free lunch, raffles, and all supplies provided. FAFSA/RISE Act Alternative Application Completion Workshop – Oct. 8 at West 
All JTHS students and families are invited to a FAFSA/RISE Act Alternative Application Completion Workshop will take place on October 8 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Joliet West High School. The purpose of the event is to assist students and families in completing the FAFSA or RISE Act Alternative Application for financial aid. Attendees should enter through Door 6 (Cafeteria Entrance off Glenwood Avenue). For more information, including what to bring to the workshop, view the Event Flyer
 
Joliet Central Drama Presents: The Stowaway – October 9 to 11 

Joliet Central High School’s Drama Department is excited to present The Stowaway, an immersive sci-fi stage experience set in a fractured society on the brink of destruction. Performances will take place on October 9th, 10th, and 11th, with two shows each evening at 7:00 PM and 8:30 PM. Due to a unique theater setup and limited seating for each performance, audience members are strongly encouraged to reserve their seats in advance using the QR Code. Tickets are just $5 for students and $8 for adults. Seat reservations are free, and all payments will be collected at the door upon arrival. Early Release School Improvement Day – Oct. 9 
October 9 is a School Improvement Day and early release for students. Students will follow the “A” Schedule. Central, West, and Pathway students are dismissed from school at 11:45 a.m. AVAC students are dismissed at 11:30 a.m., and Transition Center students are dismissed at 10:45 a.m. Click on the links below to view the attendance calendar.

Joliet West Homecoming - Oct. 10 & 11 
West’s Homecoming weekend kicks off on October 10 with the Homecoming parade at 4:15 p.m. followed by the Homecoming game vs. Plainfield East at 6:30 p.m. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are pre-sale only through Go Fan. The Homecoming Dance is on October 11 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. For more information, view the West Homecoming Announcement

Pink Heals Crosstown Volleyball Fundraiser – Oct. 14 at West 
Joliet West will host the annual Pink Heals JT Volleyball Fundraiser on October 14. The Central vs. West cross-town volleyball event takes place in the West Gymnasium. Doors open at 3:30 p.m. The JV/Freshman A & B game starts at 4:30 p.m., immediately followed by the Survivor Walk. The varsity game will begin after the Survivor Walk. Community Connections Expo – October 16 – Earn Community Service for Attending! 
Join us for our 2nd annual Community Connections Expo on Thursday, October 16, from 5–7 p.m. at Joliet Central High School! This free event features a job fair, over 60 resource tables, food vendors, live music, free childcare and interactive workshops designed to prepare students and families for college and careers. Students receive 2 Community Service Hours for attending a workshop. 
 
Finding Free Money for College Workshop – Oct. 18 
The Joliet Community YMCA is offering a free workshop on October 18 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. at Joliet Junior College Event Center – Room 2001 – 1215 Houbolt Road Joliet, IL 60431. View the English/Spanish Flyer for more information. 
 
Grandparents Raising Children Support Group – Oct. 21    
The next Grandparents Raising Children support group meeting is October 21 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the JTHS Administrative Center.  The group provides fellowship and assistance to grandparents and non-custodial caregivers on navigating the educational and public service aid systems.  For more information, view the Grandparents Raising Children Flyer.   
 
JTHS Board of Education Meeting – Oct. 21 at Joliet West High School
The JTHS Board of Education invites families and the community to their next regularly scheduled meeting at 7 p.m. on October 21 at Joliet West High School in the Auditorium. Enter the Building through Door 5 (Cafeteria). Visitors may park in any available spot. Agendas are posted at least 48 hours prior to the meetings.  If you cannot attend in person, meetings are accessible via live stream.  Individuals wishing to make public comments must sign up upon arrival before 6:50 p.m.   
 
JJC Dual Information Night – Oct. 22 
Joliet Junior College is hosting a Dual Credit Information Night on October 22 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Main Campus, U-Auditorium. High school students and their parents or supporters are invited to learn how to earn college credit while still in high school. The event will cover how dual credit can save money, prepare students for college-level work, and support future academic plans. It’s a valuable opportunity for both college-bound students and those still exploring their options. View the Event Flyer for more information, including the QR code to register.   

Joliet Central Trunk-or-Treat – Oct. 22  
Joliet Central’s Clerical Union invites families and the community to their annual Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 22 from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. This year’s outdoor event will be held at the Pathways Campus parking lot located at 110 N. Collins. Families are welcome to park in any available JTHS lot. We kindly ask that families refrain from parking at neighboring businesses. The fun-filled family event is open to children under the age of 13. Children and their families are encouraged to wear their Halloween costumes! We look forward to seeing you there! Joliet West invites families and the community to their annual Trunk or Treat on Wednesday, October 22 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. This year’s outdoor event will be held at the Joliet West north parking lot located next to the tennis courts. Families are welcome to park in any other available JTHS lot. We kindly ask that families refrain from parking at neighboring businesses. The fun-filled family event is open to students and children under the age of 13. Wearing your Halloween costume is strongly encouraged! We look forward to seeing you there! Parent Teacher Conferences – Oct. 23 & 24  
Semester 1 Parent Teacher Conferences take place virtually on Thursday, October 23, from 4 to 7 p.m. and Friday, October 24, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Students should attend the conferences with their parents/guardian if possible. Students are dismissed from school at 1:15 p.m. on Thursday, October 23. There are no classes for students on Friday, October 24. The early release schedule for October 23 is listed below.

Joliet Community YMCA Monster Mash Event – Oct. 25  
The Joliet Community YMCA is hosting a free family-friendly Monster Mash on Saturday, October 25 from 1–3 p.m. at The Salvation Army Community Center in Joliet. Families will enjoy Halloween crafts, dancing, spooky stories, and more—costumes encouraged! This event is open to the community, but registration is required and space is limited. You can view the event flyer here and register online by October 19 to save your spot. Children must be accompanied by an adult. 
 
Mentors Needed for West Winter Athlete Mentorship Dinner – Nov. 18 
The Winter Athlete Mentorship Dinner for senior students is November 18 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the Joliet West Cafeteria. Dinner is provided at no charge for participants. If you are interested in attending as a mentor, complete the Mentor Sign Up Form
