Joliet Township High School to Host Community Connections Expo on October 15

Joliet Township High School will host its annual Community Connections Expo on Thursday, October 15, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Joliet Central High School, 201 E. Jefferson St. The free event is open to JTHS families, students, staff and community members.

Guests may park in Lots B, C, D or E and enter the building through Door F, the Field House entrance off Herkimer Street, or Door J off Eastern Avenue. Accessible parking and elevator access are available through Door I along Eastern Avenue.

The Community Connections Expo brings families, students, staff and local organizations together to connect, share resources and explore opportunities available throughout the community. The evening will feature a Job Fair, a Community Resource Fair, food vendors, musical entertainment by the Joliet Central Band and interactive workshops focused on college and career readiness.

Attendees can choose two of six workshops offered in two sessions, from 6 to 6:30 p.m. and from 6:35 to 7:05 p.m. Students will receive one community service hour for each workshop they attend. A drop-in FAFSA Workshop will also be available from 5 to 7 p.m. to help families with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Details about each workshop are available on the Community Connections Expo webpage at www.jths.org.

At the Community Resource Fair, local organizations will share information about their services, programs and resources with JTHS families and community members. At the Job Fair, hosted by the Workforce Services Division of Will County, local employers will share job opportunities and connect with students, families and community members looking for work.

“The Community Connections Expo reflects our commitment to partnering with our community to support every student and family,” said Dr. Karla Guseman, Superintendent of Joliet Township High School. “In one evening, families can meet local employers, connect with community resources and learn about college and career opportunities that help our students succeed in school and beyond.”
