The Joliet Central High School Wrestling Team invites the public to “Takedown Cancer” during the SPC Dual against Plainfield South High School on January 24, 2019 at 5:00pm at the Joliet Central High School. By hosting a “Takedown Cancer” wrestling match, the team will raise and donate funds directly to the Randy Shaver Cancer Research and Community Fund.

Joliet Central ‘s Winter Athletic Supervisor Jim Grzetich said, “Pat O’Connell, a long-time wrestling coach and teacher at Joliet Central, decided to support this worthy cause two years ago and is now currently in a battle with cancer. The Joliet Central Wrestling Team will continue the tradition of taking down cancer this year and would like invite the community to support this very important cause.”

On January 24, the wrestling team will have raffles, including a 50/50 cash raffle through JT Athletic Boosters, to support Takedown Cancer. They are also selling wristbands for $1 each.  With the purchase of a wristband, your admission fee will be waived.  The team will sell “Takedown Cancer” shirts for $10, payable with cash or check (pay to the order of JTHS), during the wrestling match. All proceeds will go directly to Takedown Cancer.
