Joliet Township High School is committed to keeping every student, staff member, and visitor safe. As we continue with school safety week, we are sharing a new security measure that will add an extra layer of security to our buildings. 

New Electronic Door Alert System 
For safety, JTHS schools and buildings remain locked during the school day. Students and visitors must enter and exit through the designated Main Entrances at each campus. Students and staff should never open doors for anyone attempting to enter through other locations. 

To strengthen our commitment to safety, Joliet Central and Joliet West have added a new electronic door alert system to our existing security measures. This system monitors all exterior doors around the clock. If a door is propped open, forced, or used without proper authorization, it immediately alerts our security team, who can quickly review camera footage and respond. This technology works alongside the security personnel stationed at the Main Entrances, where all students and visitors check in and pass through our Evolv weapons detection system before entering the building. 

As a reminder, students and staff must never prop exterior doors open or allow anyone to enter the building through an entrance other than the Main Entrances. Propping a door open, opening an alarmed exterior door without authorization, or allowing unauthorized entry through any other location is considered unauthorized presence and will result in disciplinary action in accordance with School Board policy. 

Below are the approved exits that students, staff, and visitors can use during the school day without triggering a door alert.
