Internship students

Joliet Township High School District 204 is excited to announce the positions available for the Summer 2019 Internship Program!  We have partnered with several very generous local businesses and organizations to provide PAID work-based learning experiences for our students. The positions are all listed below, please read about the position and look at the attached job description to determine which positions might be the best fit for your skills, interests, and career goals.  

Applications are open to any Junior or Senior student attending a JTHS school.  Please ensure that you complete the entire application before submitting for consideration. Select students will be contacted during the month of April to schedule interviews with the business owners and managers.  Students who are selected by the companies will then also be required to attend a pre-internship training (more details to come).  Candidates will be chosen by the company hiring the students as in a typical hiring situation.  We look forward to the success and growth of the internship program.  Please contact Brett Marcum with any questions.

Position Summary:
You will work in many areas of the museum including the front desk, tours, gift shop, rentals, events, and the Old Joliet Prison. This internship really offers you the opportunity to try the different departments that can go into running a museum. No two days are alike. Sometimes the intern will be helping on tours of the Old Joliet Prison, sometimes meeting guests from all over the world in our Welcome Center in downtown Joliet.

Do you like working with the public? Are you interested in books, media, gaming and/or electronics?  Are you organized? If so, come join our dynamic Access Services team! The Joliet Public Library is a large public Library with two locations, serving a diverse population of over 147,000 people. We are seeking two part-time Circulation Page interns. The Joliet Public Library Black Road is seeking 2 part time page interns to work 16 hours/week, typically in 4 hour shifts, at the Black Road Branch. Starting pay is currently $8.25/hour. 

Most specifically, the focus of the two month internship will be spent in the following ways:

  • Pulling items from our "Pick List," which is the list of items patrons have requested
  • Matching discs to cases at checkout and/or for the "Pick List"
  • Emptying the book drop bins inside and outside
  • Putting away fiction and audiovisual materials for all ages
  • Moving our collections from location to location within the library
  • Keeping our collections looking clean and orderly
  • Pulling items from our "Missing List," which is the list of items that are currently misplaced
  • Sorting items alphabetically or numerically that are on carts and ready to be shelved
