Freedom of Information Act

Access to District Public Records

Full access to the Joliet Township High School District 204 public records is available to any person as provided in the Illinois Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).

Requesting Records

Joliet Township High School District 204’s Freedom of Information Act Officer is Dr. Ilandus Hampton, Assistant Superintendent for Business Services. All FOIA requests must be submitted in writing, using one of the following methods:

District 204 does not require the requester to complete a form when making a request under the Illinois Freedom of Information Act. However, we provide an official FOIA Request Form for your convenience. Individuals making FOIA requests should include a specific description of the public records that are being requested.

District 204 will respond within five (5) business days after receipt of a request. Please note that the first business day is considered to start at 7:30 am the day after the request is received. Saturday, Sunday and all school holidays are not considered business days.

The Freedom of Information Officer may extend the time for a response for up to 5 business days from the original due date. If an extension is needed, the Freedom of Information Officer shall: (1) notify the person making the request of the reason for the extension and (2) either inform the person of the date on which a response will be made or agree with the person in writing on a compliance period.

No copying fee shall be charged for the first 50 pages of black and white paper. For records larger than 50 pages, a fee of 15-cents per page may be charged.

When making a request for a commercial purpose, as defined in FIOA, the requester must state this intent and a fee of $10 for each hour spent by personnel in searching for and retrieving the record will be assessed in addition to the copying fees.
