School Resumes Remotely Tomorrow. JTHS Is Here For You.

Dear JTHS Families,

I hope that you are staying safe and healthy. Please know that I am committed to keeping the lines of communication open during this unusual time.

Just a reminder that school resumes remotely tomorrow, Monday, March 30.  The attendance code will be posted to www.jths.org no later than 8 a.m. the morning of each Remote Learning Day.  Students should record their attendance online one time each day between 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.  Refer to the Remote Learning Day Instructions for additional details.

We look forward to welcoming back our students, teachers, staff, and families as we continue learning online.  At JTHS, we are a family, and we are here for you.

Our Teachers Are Here For You
It has been awesome to see the creativity and kindness demonstrated by our teachers and staff.  I will continue to share their messages of inspiration through these email updates.

A Podcast from Mr. Stinson:
Joliet Central Director of Bands, Mr. Don Stinson, developed a podcast series to keep kids connected with their music studies.  In this podcast, two musicians from the Class of 2020 share their thoughts on learning from home and staying positive.

A Compilation of “Hellos” from Journalism Students
Ms. Galloy and her Journalism students compiled a video of teachers and staff saying “hi” from home.  The resounding theme is, “We miss you!”

Update from State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Carmen I. Ayala
Our country and nation are facing a situation that we have never encountered before.  Information is changing daily.  As it relates to education, please know that I will communicate the latest updates.  This includes information from the State Superintendent of Education, Dr. Carmen I. Ayala.

From Dr. Ayala
On Friday, March 27, Dr. Ayala announced that Remote Learning will continue until in-person instruction can resume.  Remote Learning Days count as regular school days and will not need to be made up at the end of the school year.  We ask that you support and encourage your child as they complete work online.

Having Fun The First Week Back
To celebrate our first week back, I invite you to participate in Virtual Spirit Week.   We want to see your smiling faces and keep connected! Email photos or videos to info@jths.org, reply to Remind, or share on Instagram, Twitter, TikTok, and/or Facebook using #JTHSSPIRITWEEK.  Photos and videos will be shared throughout the week.

Spirit Week

Food Service
Breakfast and lunch pickups at Joliet Central and Joliet West resume tomorrow. Food is given to any child 18 years old and younger at NO CHARGE. The meals are cold, grab & go options that meet the USDA guidelines.

Technology Support
Technology support is available on Remote Learning Days.  Technology staff are working from home, and they work hard to support the needs of our families.  If a staff member does not immediately answer your call, please leave a message with your name, phone number, and details describing your technology issue. Someone will get back to you as soon as possible.

Welcome Back
I look forward to our remote return to school tomorrow, and to seeing your Virtual Spirit Week photos.  Although we are social distancing, this does not mean that we must emotionally distance.  We continue to keep in communication with our families.  Remember, we are here for you.

Have a wonderful night,

Dr. Karla Guseman
Superintendent
