Athletics Overview

Dear Steelmen Fans,

Welcome to Joliet Central Athletics! Joliet Central is proud of the accomplishments of our student-athletes, both on and off the field. Athletically, the Steelmen compete in the Southwest Prairie Conference. In our conference, Sportsmanship is very important. We ask that spectators and players make behavior their top priority at all athletic contests.

The foundation of our athletic department is our M-V-P: our Mission, Values, and Purpose.  Building an elite culture that exists as part of the overall school community must come from proper planning and a passion to teach.  This is where the MVP process comes into play. Developing a Mission Statement, Value Statement, and Purpose Statement lays the foundation of what the Joliet Central Athletic Department relies upon.  Our MVP statements simply answer the Why, the What, and the How of our department

What

How Why

The What serves as the Joliet Central Athletics Mission Statement and answers what we are here to do.

The How serves as the Joliet Central Athletics Values Statement and provides the principles that guide our behavior.

The Why serves as the Joliet Central Athletics Purpose Statement and answers why we exist and what future we want to create.

MISSION - WHAT ARE WE HERE TO DO?
The mission of the Joliet Central Athletic Department is to build young people to be champions in life through our sports.

VALUES - WHAT GUIDES OUR BEHAVIOR?
Joliet Central Athletics will always Measure What Matters to COMPETE!

PURPOSE - WHAT FUTURE DO WE WANT TO HELP CREATE?

  • Purpose Statement:

    • ONWARD! - ADELANTE!

      • Embedded in our School Loyalty, The battle cry of ONWARD or ADELANTE, is as steeped in tradition as Joliet Township High School itself.  The refocus on this rallying cry helps the athletic department, coaches, student-athletes, parents, and community members focus on the culture present within the school and the community itself.  A culture focused on always moving forward, constantly improving, while never complacent or satisfied.

Our athletic staff is committed to providing everything needed to reach the athletes' potential athletically, while excelling inside the classroom. Joliet Central Athletics is comprised of coaches committed to our Mission, Value, and Purpose that are professional, passionate, and hard-working. Each coach encourages their athletes to succeed in all aspects of life. The athletic staff promotes character education with the athlete awareness program for all in-season athletes.

The Joliet Central Athletic Department also hosts a Student-Athlete Leadership Council that includes selected varsity athletes. The Forge meets twelve times a year to provide a forum to exchange ideas, communicate concerns, and  learn strategies to improve leadership skills.

We hope that your experience is enjoyable anytime you enter our facilities. We will continue to improve in all aspects of our department. Please take some time to get familiar with our website. If you need anything, do not hesitate to call, email, or stop by Joliet Central. My door is always open.

We invite you to join us in cheering for the Steelmen!
