Addressing the Board

Members of the public may address the Board when recognized by the Board President and the following rules apply:

  • The public may comment during the public comments section on any agenda item; however, this is not an opportunity for conversation
  • Must identify oneself
  • Conduct oneself with respect and civility toward others
  • Comments are limited to five minutes

Members of the public may make comments to the Board of Education on any item listed on the agenda. The time allotted to comments is limited to five minutes, unless the Board President decides to shorten public comment to conserve time and give the maximum number of individuals opportunity to speak as designated by school board policy 2:230.

Please note that is not the opportunity, or the venue, for Board of Education members to engage in conversation or provide responses.

The Board of Education respects and values the information learned during public comment.  If you would like to be spoken to individually, please make sure that the board secretary has your name and phone number.

In-Person Meeting Procedures
Parents, students, members of our community, and the public are invited to attend Board of Education meetings. Agendas are posted at least 48 hours prior to the meeting and can be found Due to COVID restrictions, the capacity limit for board meetings is 60 visitors. Visitors will be admitted to the meeting on a first come basis.  Board of Education meetings are also livestreamed and can be viewed Masks must be worn at all times while inside JTHS buildings and visitors must certify that they do not have COVID or COVID like symptoms. The public may comment during the public comments section on any agenda item or topics related to the district; however, this is not an opportunity for conversation. Visitors must conduct themselves with respect and civility towards others.  Individuals wishing to make public comment must sign-up for public comment upon arrival and before 6:50 p.m. on-site at the JTHS Administrative Center.
