JTHS students who earned academic honors from the College Board National Recognition Programs received recognition at the September JTHS Board of Education meeting. These programs celebrate students' hard work in high school and showcase their strong academic performance.
The academic honors for rural area, Black, Indigenous, and/or Latino students are an opportunity for students to share their strong academic achievements with colleges and scholarship programs that are seeking to recruit diverse talent.The criteria for eligible students include:
· GPA of 3.5 or higher.
· PSAT/NMSQT or PSAT 10 assessment scores that are within the top 10% of assessment takers in each state for each award program or earned a score of 3 or higher on 2 or more AP Exams in 9th and 10th grade.
Joliet Central students recognized for receiving the College Board National African American Recognition Award (NAARA) were Angela Ayivor, Xavier Brass, Charon Cage, Shatierre Figueroa, and Trevor Koech.
Joliet Central students recognized for receiving the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Award (NAARA) were Samantha Aguilera, Michelle Castaneyra Castillo, Andy Granados, Jose Martinez, Giselle Ramos Martinez, Estrella Pantoja, and Jose Perez Sanchez. Joliet West students recognized for receiving the College Board National African American Recognition Award (NAARA) were Deanna Applegate, Kalyn Sudberry, Morgan Pork, and Saniya Newman. Joliet West students recognized for receiving the College Board National Hispanic Recognition Award (NAARA) were Alyssa Jimenez, Eliana Paramo, Jose Nevarez, Kiara Rodriguez, Lauren Harms, Marco Sanchez-Cervantes, Paola Avila, and Sophia Jaramillo. The Joliet West student recognized for receiving the College Board National Indigenous Award (NIA) was Paul Coffey.- Central
