The band competed at various competitions throughout the State this fall, placing 2nd in their class at the Washington Marching Panther Invitational and Plainfield South Marching Invitational, and 4th in their class at the Downers Grove South Mustang Music Bowl and Victor J. Andrew Marching Invitational. The band also brought home awards for Best Guard and Best Percussion at the Plainfield South Invitational, as well as the Crowd Appeal Award at the Illinois State Marching Band Championships.
The band will finish their season with a performance at the Light Up the Holidays Parade in Downtown Joliet on November 29.
“The marching band staff are very proud of the hard work and musical growth that the students have put into this season. The band began practicing in early June and continued to improve as the year progressed,” said Joliet West Band Director Eric Wellman and Assistant Director Alyson Bauman. “The marching band schedule is a busy one, and the students were up to the task of providing quality performances at all our school, community, and state-wide events.”
