Five Joliet Township High School Students Named National Merit Commended Students

Five Joliet Township High School students have been named Commended Students in the 67th annual 2022 National Merit Scholarship program, which is designed to identify and honor the top high school students in the United States. Victor Munoz is the Commended Student from Joliet Central, and Jackson Bartelt, Haley Maser, Tiffany Trizna, and Sofie Young are the Commended students from Joliet West.

Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 who entered the competition by taking the 2020 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Commended Students are recognized for their exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their performance on this test.

“Those being named Commended Students have demonstrated outstanding potential for academic success,” said the National Merit Scholarship Corporation. “These students represent a valuable national resource; recognizing their accomplishments, as well as the key role their schools play in their academic development, is vital to the advancement of educational excellence in our nation. We hope that this recognition will help broaden their educational opportunities and encourage them as they continue their pursuit of academic success.”
