The Joliet Central High School Drama Department is thrilled to announce its upcoming production of “A Story About a Girl” to be performed in the round at the Joliet Central Auditorium, 201 E. Jefferson Street, on October 10, 11, and 12 at 7 p.m. This poignant play tells the story of Jessica – a girl who struggles to find her voice in a world that often overlooks her, capturing her journey from birth to adulthood and exploring themes of love, longing, and the transformative power of theater.
The cast recently had the opportunity to connect with acclaimed playwright and TV writer Jackie Reingold via Zoom during a rehearsal for their fall play. For 90 minutes, Jackie shared her insights into the inspirations behind “A Story About a Girl,” her own journey as a writer, and answered numerous questions from the enthusiastic cast.
The cast includes Rebecca Hambry, Jacob Helenhouse, Logan Winfrey Wilson, Margaret “Joey” O’Hara, Yariel Munoz Alcantar, Neomy Lopez, Aida Valdovinos, Ayanna Jackson, Sheyla Vasquez, and Abdiel Perez.
Joliet Central is proud to be the first group to produce a full production of this acclaimed work, under the direction of Mr. Joseph Hoyt.
Tickets for “A Story About a Girl” are priced at $10 for adults and $5 for students and will be available for purchase at the door.
Join us for a heartfelt theatrical experience that promises to resonate with audiences and highlight the immense talent of Joliet Central’s students. For more information, please contact Mr. Joseph Hoyt jhoyt@jths.org.
