2011 - 2012 Tiger Basketball
Hello Basketball Fans! Welcome to our Basketball Program. My name is Luke Yaklich and I am the head varsity basketball coach at Joliet West High School. I have just concluded my fourth season at Joliet Township and my 12th overall season as a head basketball coach. I am very excited and take an incredible amount of pride in leading this program.
Our program is built upon the effort of our young men in the Classroom, on the Court, and in the Community. We refer to these three areas as the "3 C's of Success". We expect and demand great effort out of our student-athletes in the classroom. We conduct basketball study halls and have weekly grade checks that monitor the progress of our players in all academic areas. It is my personal goal to see that each and everyone of our players get accepted into college and pursue the degree of their choice.
We compete on the basketball court. Our practices are very demanding and stress the development of fundamental basketball skills that will prepare our players to compete at the highest level against the best of competition. We compete in the very competitive Southwest Suburban Conference. We take great pride in our coaching staff's ability to improve our player's skills and allow them to reach their potential as a basketball player.
We expect and demand that our student-athletes represent our program and themselves with great pride in our greater Joliet community. Our players are representatives of our high school in the community and regularly appear in the newspaper, on the radio, and occasionally on television. Being part of the Joliet West High School Basketball Program requires that our players represent themselves at all times while part of our basketball program.
Sincerely,
