JTHS Superintendent Dr. Cheryl McCarthy & Board of Education Vice President Tracy Spesia and Member R. Dale Evans to Host Coffee & Community Conversation Jan. 23 at Troy School District Administrative Center

Joliet Township High School Superintendent Dr. Cheryl McCarthy and Board of Education Vice President Tracy Spesia and member R. Dale Evans will host a Coffee and Community Conversation from 7 to 8 p.m. on Monday, January 23 at the Troy Community Consolidated School District 30-C Administrative Center, 5800 W. Theodore Street in Plainfield. 

The event is the third in a series of conversations held throughout the year where the community can meet Board of Education members, key JTHS leaders and the superintendent.    

The Coffee and Conversation series is open to parents, students, staff, and community members.  There is no structured agenda, and guests can arrive and leave at any time during the 7 to 8 p.m. time frame.

“This has been a great way to connect face-to-face with our community in a relaxed setting,” said McCarthy.  “We are looking forward to further engaging our stakeholders in meaningful conversations related to our school district.”

Buy your 2017 yearbook
The deadline to purchase the 2017 yearbook is Feb. 1, 2017. Books are currently $50.00 and can be purchased online at

2016-2017 Alpha Omega Yearbook Senior Ads
Senior Parents, the yearbook staff’s annual fundraiser offers a creative way to show how proud you are of your graduating senior by publishing a senior ad in the yearbook. All ads must be received no later than January 21st

As part of a generous grant from the Best Buy Foundation, Joliet Junior College is pleased to  offer MakerLab Institute: Taking Your World to Another Dimension. These FREE workshops begin in January. January 21: NAMI Basics Education Program
NAMI Will-Grundy, the local organization of the National Alliance on Mental Illness, will offer its free NAMI Basics Education Program beginning January 21, 2017. This six-session program designed for parents and other family caregivers of youth with emotional/behavioral difficulties will be held on Saturdays from 8:30am – 11:00am at NAMI Office, 417 Taylor Street, Joliet, Illinois. January 24: Joliet West  vs Bolingbrook Sophomore & Varsity Boys Basketball
Tickets for the January 24, Joliet West High School away Boys Basketball Games (Sophomore Game @5pm, Varsity Game @6:30pm) against Bolingbrook will be on sale starting January 18. 

Community ticket sales (adult and non-JWHS students) will take place during the following dates and times:

  • 1/18- 4:00 PM- 5:00 PM – Joliet West Athletic Office
  • 1/19- 4:00 PM- 6:00 PM – Joliet West Athletic Office
  • 1/20- 4:15 PM- 7:15 PM – At the Home Basketball Game
  • 1/23 - 4:00 PM-6:00 PM- Joliet West Athletic Office

Student ticket sales will take place during the following dates and times:

  • 1/18- 7:15 AM - 2:30 PM – Joliet West Bookstore
  • 1/19- 7:15 AM - 2:30 PM – Joliet West Bookstore
  • 1/20- 7:15 AM - 2:30 PM – Joliet West Bookstore
  • 1/23- 7:15 AM - 2:30 PM – Joliet West Bookstore
  • 1/24- 7:15 AM – 12:15 PM – Joliet West Bookstore

Adult admission is $5 and student admission is $2 (students K-8 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Students are allowed ONE ticket with a valid student ID. Students are NOT allowed to purchase tickets for other students or non-students. Students can NOT purchase tickets for parents/guardians or other family members. Tickets are non-refundable and will not be reprinted if lost.

January 28 & 29: Prom Dress Resale
The LTHS Foundation will host its next Prom Dress Resale on Saturday, January 28, and Sunday, January 29, 2017. Joliet Central High School and Joliet West High School girls and their families are invited to participate. Although the event is promoted as a prom dress resale, both long and short formal and semiformal dresses will be available.

February 18: National Teens Overcoming Pressure Summit

NHBW, Inc. will host its Teens Overcoming Pressure - National Teen Summit on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Joliet Township High School District 204 (Administrative Center), 300 Caterpillar Drive, Joliet, IL 60436. Teens (boys and girls) ages 13 - 17 are welcome! This event is FREE to all participants! Continental breakfast and lunch will be served! The NAACP Joliet Branch #3018 will partner on this event. March 10: Scholarship Application Deadline for Dr. Daniel Gutierrez Scholarship 2017
Senior students are encouraged to apply to Dr. Daniel Gutierrez Scholarship 2017, awarded by the Hispanic Latino Coalition and the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission to Hispanic students interested in pursuing a post-secondary education. The scholarship deadline is March 10, 2017. Please click here to learn more.

March 12: JTHS Foundation “Classic TV”-themed Trivia Fundraiser Day

The Joliet Township High School Foundation invites the Joliet area community to its annual Trivia Fundraiser Day at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 12th at 176 West, 1100 NE Frontage Road in Joliet.  Doors open at 2 p.m. Funds raised will go towards grants and scholarships for JTHS staff and students.

The contest theme this year is "Classic TV” and will involve ten rounds with 10 questions in each round.  The teams placing in first and second place will receive prizes for their expert Classic TV knowledge. A prize will also be awarded to the team with the best Classic TV-themed table décor and costume.
