A Message from Dr. Gibson: Please read this newsletter to learn more about College Application Month, NHS tutoring, Tiger Paw Recognition, and the upcoming Coffee & Community Conversation with Dr. McCarthy on October 23rd.
Tip of the Week: Apply for college - October is College Application Month #JTAchievesTogether
Tigers, October is College Application Month, and, regardless of what grade you are in, it's never too early to start thinking about your college plans. At Joliet West, we are happy to help you with this process. Furthermore, let's work together to support our senior students to apply for college this semester.
Parents and students, we encourage you to work with us:
- To encourage students to complete at least two applications.
- To inform students of the importance in applying early.
- Motivate students to do well in their classes to improve their grade point average.
If you are in need of assistance, please contact your counselor. Teachers, coaches, and club sponsors can also offer support and share about their college experiences.
Additionally, please remember that the Joliet West Library is another great resource on-campus, where students can meet college representatives and access college and career prep resources. Visit http://www.jolietwestlibrary.com/ to learn more about their college/career prep resources.
NHS Online Tutoring System
Any Joliet West High School student can text @tutoringjw to 81010 through Remind for tutoring assistance from Joliet West National Honor Society tutors. Please note this is not a replace for the existing after-school program; it is more for quick questions than detailed, one-on-one tutoring. Please watch this video for more details: https://youtu.be/6oYFWD2QTVM
