JTHS Achievements Recognized in Joliet Mayor's State of the City Address
Mayor O’Dekirk highlighted the success of Joliet Central and Joliet West in his State of the City Address on February 13. The Advanced Placement District of the Year Award, Central Student Center Addition, Joliet West Bowling & Cheer State Champions, ACT scores and AP Scholars were among the achievements that received public recognition during his speech.
SIP Day Updates
Joliet Township High School Improvement Days, also known as SIP days, are usually held every two weeks. Please note there will be an exception for Thursday, February 23rd and Thursday, March 2nd where the SIP Days will be held back-to-back.
February 23, 2017 is a B day, meaning classes begin at 11:20am and students will attend periods 5, 6, 7, & 8.
March 2, 2017 is an A day, meaning students will begin classes at 11:20am and will attend periods 1, 4, 3 & 2.
Please make sure to add these updated SIP Days in your calendar.
As a reminder, SIP Days provide time for teachers to discuss student performance, academy identity, core assessments, interdisciplinary lessons, student rewards and recognitions, and the best classroom practices to improve student learning.

February 18: National Teens Overcoming Pressure Summit
NHBW, Inc. will host its Teens Overcoming Pressure - National Teen Summit on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the Joliet Township High School District 204 (Administrative Center), 300 Caterpillar Drive, Joliet, IL 60436. February 18: Professional’s Choice Hair Design Academy Open House
Is your child interested in a career in cosmetology? If so, check out the Professional’s Choice Open House on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 2719 W Jefferson St. in Joliet. February 23: The 3rd Annual African American Read-In
Joliet Township High School District 204 and The National Hook-Up Of Black Women Present: The 3rd Annual African American Read-In. This event is free and members of the public are invited to participate by reading short passages of work by African American authors. March 3: “Redress the Dress” Prom Dress & Suit Sale
Joliet West Junior Class Committee is hosting its second annual “Redress the Dress” prom and suit sale on Saturday, March 3, 2017 from 10 am – 2 pm. Community members and their families are invited to participate in this event. We are also looking for donations at this time. Although the event is promoted as a prom dress resale, both long and short formal and semiformal dresses will be available. (see attached flyers). March 4: AABE Scholarship for underrepresented students in STEM-related disciplines
The American Association of Blacks in Energy is a professional organization of African Americans in the energy industry. Through its Scholarship Program, AABE seeks to help increase the number of African Americans, Hispanics and Native Americans (underrepresented minorities) in energy related fields. March 10: Scholarship Application Deadline for Dr. Daniel Gutierrez Scholarship 2017
Senior students are encouraged to apply to Dr. Daniel Gutierrez Scholarship 2017, awarded by the Hispanic Latino Coalition and the Silver Cross Healthy Community Commission to Hispanic students interested in pursuing a post-secondary education. March 11: Know Your Rights Presentation with Immigration Attorneys
The Office of Human Dignity from the Diocese of Joliet and Nuevo Horizonte invite the community to a presentation with the Southwest Suburban Immigrant Project group. March 12: JTHS Foundation “Classic TV”-themed Trivia Fundraiser Day
The Joliet Township High School Foundation invites the Joliet area community to its annual Trivia Fundraiser Day at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 12th at 176 West, 1100 NE Frontage Road in Joliet. Doors open at 2 p.m. Funds raised will go towards grants and scholarships for JTHS staff and students.
The contest theme this year is "Classic TV” and will involve ten rounds with 10 questions in each round. The teams placing in first and second place will receive prizes for their expert Classic TV knowledge. A prize will also be awarded to the team with the best Classic TV-themed table décor and costume.

Joliet West High School performing “Cinderella” on March 17, 18 & 19
Joliet West High School will perform Rodgers and Hammerstein’s 2013 Broadway musical “Cinderella” on Friday, March 17 and Saturday, March 18 at 7 pm and March 19 at 3 pm in the Joliet West High School Auditorium located at 401 N. Larkin Avenue in Joliet. J
