May 30, 2017 09:27 AM
Joliet Township students had the unique opportunity to combine their creative abilities with scientific interests by participating in the Three Rivers Education Partnership SAFETY Poster Competition.
The purpose of the competition was to familiarize high school students with science-based industries, such as manufacturing, and the need for safety measures.
Students were invited to create a safety-themed poster—specifically, recognizing and eliminating possible safety hazards in their homes, schools or leisure activities. The students’ colorful posters covered topics such as fire safety, safe driving, and handwashing using bold and engaging imagery.
To incentivize and reward participation, the students competed for scholarships.
During the JTHS Board of Education meeting on May 16, Tamara Holman, Human Resources Manager for Caterpillar, presented awards to the following students:
Joliet Central High School
Joliet West High School
Sponsor: Mary Spata
