Joliet West High School Student Clayton Pelzer Places Brings Home Top Honors at IDEA State Drafting Competition
Joliet West High School student Clayton Pelzer placed third in the 3D Modeling Division at the Illinois Drafting Educators Association State Drafting Competition over the weekend. Three Joliet West High School students qualified for the State competition by placing first or second in the regional competition at JJC this past March.
State qualifiers included West students Collin Mardian who placed second in the 3D modeling division and Clayton Pelzer who placed first.
Alexis Perez qualified with a second place win in the Introductory CAD division.
At the state competition, the qualifiers competed against drafting students from all over the state of Illinois with over thirty students in each division.
"The students put in a lot of time and effort preparing for the competition," said Drafting Instructor and Sponsor Dave Popek. "Clayton and all our state qualifiers did a great job."
