Joliet Township High School hosting College Camp at Lewis University in June 2017
May 9, 2017 09:21 AM
On June 12, 2017, JTHS is partnering with Lewis University to host a one-day FREE workshop covering the fundamentals of the college application process. The deadline to sign up is May 12th. This event is open to both Joliet Central and Joliet West High School students.
Joliet Central Counselor Aseneth Ruiz said, “We are excited about having the opportunity to partner with the Dean of Undergraduate admission, Ashley Skidmore from Lewis University. We think that this will give students a great head start in the college application process. Our seniors will be able to interact with other first generation college students about what is like to be a college student. We want students to have as much of the college experience as possible so they will be able to eat in the cafeteria and have a tour of the campus, classrooms and dorms.”
Students will learn about the process of choosing a college, about their chosen careers and even explore their options if they are undecided. They will also have the opportunity to explore a collegiate environment through a campus tour. They will learn about financial aid and scholarships, which is often an important factor when applying and deciding which college to attend.
Students will have the opportunity to apply to Lewis University that same day if they would like. Lewis University will be waiving the $40 application fee so all students can fill out an application before the end of the day. Students will be provided a copy of their transcripts to bring with them.
Requirements to be considered for Camp College (limited space available):
- The first 35 students who complete the following will be chosen to attend
