A date has been set for the Joliet East High School Memorabilia Display Unveiling & Reception.
Joliet East Kingsmen, their teachers, family and friends, are invited to attend the event which will be held on April 17 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the JTHS Administrative Center located at 300 Caterpillar Drive in Joliet.
A group of Joliet East Kingsmen came together in September to raise the funds necessary to create a permanent display at the JTHS Administrative Center to commemorate Joliet East’s proud history.
“Although East closed in 1983, Kingsmen pride lives on and is stronger than ever,” said Joliet Township High School Community & Alumni Relations Director Kristine Schlismann. “The bond that East alumni have maintained throughout the years is truly remarkable. East Alumni Sandy Patrick (’73), Pat Maher (’75) and Mike O’Connell (’69) really championed this project and were essential in raising over $1,000 to take this project from concept to reality.”
“The Joliet East legacy can be seen in the former students who, around the world, have contributed so much to their communities. Artist, Business Leaders, Musicians, Public Servants, Teachers, Writers and, most important, Solid Citizens,” said Patrick. “The bond, amongst former students of all colors, ethnic groups, genders, races, religions and economic standing lives on to this day. Our alumni are the personification of the Joliet East Fight song-MAY YOUR GLORY NEVER DIE.”
Planning for the event is currently underway and donations are being accepted to offset the cost of the reception. East memorabilia of all kinds is being collected. To donate, contact Kristine Schlismann at firstname.lastname@example.org or call (815) 727-6967.
