My name is Albert Brass Jr., and this is my first year of being a Dean of Students at Joliet West High School. For the past two years I’ve served as a guidance counselor at Joliet West High School. Prior to arriving to Joliet West High School, I worked as a guidance counselor/dean of students at Hoffman Estates High School. (8 yrs.). Overall, this is my 13th year in education.
In addition, I’ve coached Boys’ basketball for the past seven years. I’m currently the Freshman Boys’ Basketball Coach.
My educational philosophy is that “all students can learn” provided that they have clear and realistic goals along with continuous support from teachers, and parents.
Our job as Deans’ is to enforce consequences for negative behaviors, and to encourage the positive behaviors. Students who have goals are more likely to be successful than those students who do not have goals.
In partnership with teachers, parents, and students we can assist students to reach their full potential and ultimately a successful career in whatever they choose to do.
