Returning Student Registration 2016-17

New Student Enrollment

Please call (815) 774-1644 to get information regarding enrollment.  Both the student and a legal guardian must attend the registration appointment. Students attending Joliet West must live within the district attendance boundaries with a natural parent or court-appointed legal guardian at the start of the school term.
 

New students will need:

  1. Original birth certificate,

  2. Guardian photo ID,

  3. Three (3) current proofs of residency,

  4. Verification of guardianship or custody,

  5. Illinois State Board of Education student transfer form completed by the previous school, and

  6. Unofficial transcripts.

If you are currently in the 9, 10, 11, or 12 grade, registration forms are available for your convenience under forms to your right.  Please print and complete ALL forms and bring with you to registration.   

Students currently in the 8th grade do not print these forms.  Forms for 8th graders are preprinted and given when they register in the office. 

 

Class of 2021 Information

Important Dates

October 22, 2016 - Explore Testing for private school students/public school make-ups at Joliet Central.  Students should report to Central Campus, Auditorium entrance on Eastern Ave at 7:30 a.m. and will be released by 11:00 a.m.
December 7, 2016 - Class of 2021 Preview Night for Parents and Students, 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
January 14 & 28, 2017 - Class of 2021 Registration
February 9, 2017 - Evening Registration for the Class of 2021

April 21, 2017 - Preschedules Mailed


JTHS will no longer administer an honors test for incoming grade 8 students.

EXPLORE scores and sender school teacher recommendations are used for honors placement.

 

Note:

  • No advance registration is required to take Explore Test

  • Students should arrive at least 10 minutes early (late arrivals will not be permitted to test...NO EXCEPTIONS)

  • EXPLORE scores will not be available by phone or through electronic means

  • Parents must attend January registration if they want a hard copy of the EXPLORE score results

  • EXPLORE summary results are distributed to the sender schools March, 2017

  • This will be the only make-up session given

 

All questions related to Honors placement should be directed to Maureen Pulaski at 815-774-1688.  8th grade teacher recommendations are kept on file in our Freshman Academy Office, therefore, please contact the high school, not the junior high school, to discuss placement after the above dates.

 

December 7, 2016 - Class of 2021 Preview Night for Parents and Students

Joliet West will host a Curriculum Preview Night.  Information regarding this event will be mailed in late November.  This will be an informational session for 8th grade students and their parents/guardians in the auditorium, please enter Door 5.  You will receive important information about registration, testing, athletics, activities, and the Freshman Academy.

The night begins at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium.  At 7:00 p.m., you will get to tour Joliet West and visit with the teachers and see the classrooms.  The program will conclude and 8:30 p.m.  
 

January 14 & 28, 2017 - Class of 2021 Registration

The Class of 2021 must register for 2017 fall courses.  Registration times are January 14, 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and January 28, 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.  Details will be mailed to incoming students on December 28.  Any questions/concerns please call Pam Dantzler at 815-774-1645.

Explore Makeup Test
Any student receiving a letter indicating they need to take the Explore test will report on January 14, at 7:50 am, and enter Door 7.  Please give your letter or indicate to West personnel that your child needs to take the Explore test and he/she will be directed where to go for testing.  Please have your child bring two #2 pencils and a calculator.  Testing will conclude by 10:00 am.  You can then continue with the registration process at that time.

The above proofs MUST be in the legal guardians name and no older than 30 days old.

Note:

  • Any student reporting to registration without EXPLORE scores must be tested before they can register.  TESTING BEGINS AT THE START OF REGISTRATION.  Any student not having an EXPLORE score will be notified by postcard prior to registration that they need to report on the day of registration to take the EXPLORE test before they can register.  Registration can be completed after the student takes the EXPLORE test that same day.

  • EXPLORE test scores will be provided to parents during registration (please DO NOT call for scores as they will not be available).

  • No fees are due at the time of registration.  Fees are due in August.

     

Parents of Private School Students 

If you have a student attending a private school that will attend Joliet West next year, please call to ensure his/her name is on the mailing roster.  Joliet West does not always receive the names of students attending private schools.

 

February 9, 2017 - Evening Registration for the Class of 2021
  

There will be an evening registration for any student not registered from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.  Please refer to the information above regarding required documents needed for registration.  Please use the Main Office entrance (Door 1) and proceed to rm. B101.

Note:  Registrations are also done for incoming freshmen daily from 8:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., Monday thru Friday in rm. B101

April 21, 2017  - Preschedules Mailed

Incoming freshman who are completely registered should receive their preschedule in the mail by the end of the week.  If you owe proofs or have not come in to register, you will not receive a preschedule until ALL requirements have been met.  If you have any questions/concerns please contact Pam Dantzler at 815-774-1645.
