Netbook Collection Message to JTHS Freshmen, Sophomore and Junior Students:
If your student was provided with a netbook computer as part of the 1:1 Technology Initiative this school year, please take note of the following information:

Device Inspection and Collection
Your student’s netbook computer will be collected on May 26 even if they are participating in any summer programs.  After the collection, his or her netbook computer will be assessed for functional or major damage.  Examples of functional or major damage include intentional tampering, damage from liquids or damage resulting from the device being dropped.

Fees associated with these types of damages will be charged to your student’s account and an invoice will be mailed to your home during the first week of July if fees have been accrued.  

Accidental Damage Insurance Coverage
Fees associated with accidental damage can potentially be avoided or reduced by utilizing the Accidental Damage Insurance that is provided by the school district.  Accidental Damage Insurance Coverage may be used one time per school year to pay for the repair of accidental damage to your student’s netbook computer.  Examples of accidental damage include: broken hinge, liquid damage to internal components, etc.  Please note that Accidental Insurance Coverage does not include:  lost/stolen devices, defacing, missing components, a cracked screen, broken keyboard, etc.

Joliet Township High School can only use the Accidental Damage Insurance Coverage to repair damage to your student’s computer if the district is made aware of the accidental damage.  Please talk to your student about the importance of caring for his/her device. Inspect your student’s netbook computer throughout the school year and if damage is found report it as soon as possible.
