JOLIET TOWNSHIP HIGH SCHOOLS
JOLIET, ILLINOIS
The campuses have developed a School Improvement Plan to meet the
standards of the Illinois State Board of Education and North Central
Association. They are as follows:
Alternate School Improvement Plan
Faculty members at the Alternate High School are involved with
the Curriculum Coordinating Council, Subject Area Committees, Staff
Development, and Mentoring. With this representation, pursuit of
the School Improvement Plan goals is enriched and strengthened.
District curriculum is being implemented in all content areas and
student progress is being assessed with district instruments for
freshmen and sophomores, while juniors take a state mandated test.
As longitudinal data is accumulated, its value to the Alternate
staff for helping students acquire skills needed to become healthy
and productive members of the society will be employed.
Teachers will receive individual training for implementation of
curriculum to assist all students in meeting or exceeding the Illinois
State Standards. Vocational training opportunities have been expanded
but the need for more has been identified. A second technology lab
has been equipped and all classrooms have technology. Optimal use
of this instructional aid is an identified goal as is engaged learning.
Attendance issues and behavior management demand continual and creative
effort.
