Welcome!
From the pages of the alumni directory, "Joliet Township High
Schools remain as solid as the limestone at 201 East Jefferson,
as firm as the brick at Larkin and Glenwood, as real as memories
that preserve the environment that once existed on Mills Road."
The Joliet Township High Schools foundation for learning began
when the buildings foundation was laid during the construction
project in 1900. JTHS was dedicated in April 4, 1901 and the original
building was placed on the National Register of Historic Places
in August of 1982. One can feel the sense of history and the proud
tradition that surrounds its academic environment.
JTHS has a storied athletic history graduating a galaxy of sports
stars; a tradition of musical excellence that began with A.R. McAllister
in 1912, and a long list of alumni who have achieved fame in politics,
business, education, journalism, the performing arts and in a host
of other fields. A veritable whos who of renowned graduates.
Its the JTHS legacy.
2001 was a year of celebration for Joliet Township High Schools.
There was a myriad of memorable events bringing JTHS alumni home
for the 100th anniversary. However, once the twelve months came
to a close, we found that "it takes more than a year to celebrate
a century!" With that in mind, the Board of Education determined
to continue what began in the centennial year by establishing the
JTHS Alumni Office. We know by your response to the centennial decade
reunions, the annual class and anniversary reunions, and all the
other activities that there are many of you who still care about
your high school
and about each other. It is our intent to
form the Joliet Township High Schools Alumni Association. And, as
with any new organization, it will take a while to get where we
want to be, so please be patient with us.
As the Director of Alumni Relations, I look forward to
working with you. The focus of the Alumni Office is to offer alumni
the opportunity to feel involved in what is happening on our campuses
of JT Central and JT West; to help our students reach their potential
and be prepared to meet the challenges after they leave us, and
to sponsor events that will bring us together in fun and friendship.
Here at JTHS, we are not just getting older; we are getting better
and that is no cliché.
