Memories are Made of This

The Class of 1954 has remained close throughout the years. They’ve held reunions every five years, beginning with their ninth reunion, and they have celebrated in between times with Christmas and Halloween parties.

Now it’s 50 years since leaving the marble hallways of JTHS! Classmates began gathering for their 50 th reunion on Friday, June 11, 2004. Those golfing guys and gals kicked off events with a golf outing at Woodruff Golf Course; for those who weren’t on the links, they toured the Joliet Area Historical Museum; the Rialto Square Theatre and JTHS. Later in the evening the ’54 gang gathered at Cemeno’s for a great pizza party.

On Saturday evening, June 12, the banquet was held at 176 West with cocktails, conversation, and dinner. Before bidding each other goodbye on Sunday morning, members of the Class of ’54 enjoyed brunch together at Al’s Steak House.

The Class of 1954 participated in the JTHS Alumni Association Challenge 50 program and presented JTHS District 204 with a generous contribution enabling the District to present the “Class of 1954 Scholarship” to two graduating seniors in 2005. The generosity of the class members also enabled several of the high school’s programs to received donations as well.

Class reunion coordinators were: Nancy (Edmunds) Bakoski, Ron and Jean (Norris) Reece, Verna (Feltz) Kitchen, Lorraine (Brandolino) Schiek, Dan Neverman, Bob Pitcairn and Leroy Sayles.
