April 27, 2017 11:41 AM

JTHS Students were extremely successful on Wednesday, April 26, at the Southwest Prairie Conference 2017 Literary Festival hosted at Plainfield East High School, where ten JTHS students were among the award winners and JT students won three Critic’s Choice awards (the highest honor students can achieve).

Brian Conant, JTHS English and Fine Arts Curriculum Director, said, “I am very encouraged by the performance of our students in this writing competition.  This is the first year our students have participated, so we did not really know what to expect.  The pieces our students submitted were creative, engaging and enlightening.  I am very proud of these students as well as the English faculty who support our writing-based curriculum.”

The following students won awards at the event, with hyperlinks to their winning texts:

Joliet West educator Brian Newman said, “Congratulations to the winners! Thank you to all who submitted your work and who edited it for consideration.  We did awesome in our first year in the Literary Festival for the SPC, and next year we hope to do even better.”
