JTHS students attend 19 under 19 girls Leadership Summit

Eight Joliet Central High School students participated in a unique educational experience over the weekend. State Representative Natalie Manley presented the first annual inaugural 19 under 19: Girls Leadership Summit on Saturday May 6, 1pm to 3pm. The event was created to inspire junior and senior girls to achieve their personal, academic and professional potential.
Each educational community nominated two girls from their schools who demonstrate potential for this seminar. It is designed to inspire emerging leaders with the drive to be strong, successful women who have overcome obstacles and with a supportive network, are able to feel capable to achieving their dreams.
Joliet Central High School English teacher Dr. Linda Bowers accompanied the following students to the leadership summit:

The invitation-only event included influential speakers, discussions about setting goals and overcoming obstacles, and the opportunity to connect with local women leaders and students from schools across the district.
