Chicagoland Speedway and Joliet Township High School announced today a new curriculum program challenge for the 2016-2017 schoolyear. Students will partner with the speedway to produce four photo-opportunities to be featured during the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series weekend in 2017. The year-long program will allow students in Intermediate Art, 2D Art and Construction Occupations classes to gain real-life experience in their respective fields of study.

Similar to previous years, students from the West and Central campuses have competed against their fellow classmates: however, unlike the culinary-based competition held in years past, the art students competed to provide the best design. Each iconic photo location was required to follow the themes of racing, cars or Chicago and be an original creation, conceived by the students themselves and presented on paper. Throughout the design process, Chicagoland Speedway's marketing staff assisted the students in idea creation, planning, preparation and execution.

On Friday, October 7, students submitted their final proposals for evaluation. A panel of judges comprised of Chicagoland Speedway President Scott Paddock and Communications Director Denny Hartwig, Joliet Township High Schools Assistant Superintendent of Educational Services Dr. Karla Guseman and Todd Brook, CEO of EnivisonIt, a digital campaign agency that delivers breakthrough creative ideas and powerful digital experiences that connect with their audiences on a human level narrowed down the selection of

From here, the four designs will be transferred to the Construction Occupation students who will build each photo-opportunity to stand 5ft. wide by 7ft. tall or 7ft. wide by 5 ft. tall based on the design. Joliet Township Administration will work diligently to obtain local sponsors for each design. Funds generated through this process will ultimately be donated to two community organizations of the students' choice. These four iconic locations will be available for picture taking during Chicagoland Speedway's Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup race weekend in 2017.

Students will not only receive the glory and satisfaction of featuring their hard work in front of more than 100-thousand fans during an exhilarating race weekend, but will also have the opportunity to apply for scholarships totaling $2,500.

The Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup weekend at Chicagoland Speedway, Sept. 14-17, will begin with the ARCA Racing Series on Thursday evening followed by the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race under the lights on Friday night. On Saturday, Sept. 16, the NASCAR XFINITY Series will hit the track as the precursor to Sunday's NASCAR Sprint Cup Series showdown, the first race in the Chase for the NASCAR Sprint Cup.

Tickets can be purchased online at ChicagolandSpeedway.com, by calling 888-629-RACE, through the Chicagoland Speedway mobile app, or by visiting the Chicagoland Speedway Administrative office Monday-Friday 8:30am - 5:00pm.
