Having passed away on June 1, 2013, Dr. Timmothy D. Bailey’s legacy lives on through all those he positively impacted during his 37 wonderful years of life. United in Excellence; After the Peanut, LLC; and the family of Dr. Timmothy D. Bailey are pleased to announce the inauguration of a scholarship in his honor. The scholarship aims to support and encourage 12th grade students attending Joliet Township High Schools District 204 to pursue a STEM degree at a four-year university.

Having attended Edna Keith Elementary School, Washington Jr. High School, and graduating from Joliet Central High School in 1993, Dr. Bailey’s story sets a brilliant example for today’s local youth to strive for their dreams and give back to the community.

As a student, Dr. Bailey was a valuable member of the New Era Choir, the Drama Club, the Steelman Morning News Anchors, ROTC and the JTHS Orchestra. The teachers that impacted him the most were Betty Mahone, Thelma Kirkland and Shirley Lang.

He fulfilled his dream of becoming a medical doctor by receiving the following degrees: a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry (1998) and Master of Biology (2001) from Tennessee State, and Doctor of Medicine at Ross University in Dominica May of 2006. He completed his Residency at the Medical College of Wisconsin at Columbia St. Mary’s Family Medicine (2009).

He went on to practice Family and Geriatric Medicine, while also sharing his time and talents as a Nursing Home Administrator. Bailey fulfilled his life-long dream and biggest accomplishments by opening up Bailey Family Medicine in 2011.

His exceptional work and kindness did not go unnoticed, having been awarded the Baptist General State Nurses Health Unit of Illinois Award for Practicing Medicine (2011) and recognized as a Consumers’ Research Council of America: America’s Top Physician (2012).

Dr. Bailey would always remind his friends, family and colleagues to not be scared, and to set high standards and lofty goals because dreams do come true.
