Over 30 students from Joliet Central High School’s Health Careers class participated in an exciting program offered by the Museum of Science & Industry on Nov. 9. The program, “Live…From The Heart,” connects high school students with surgeons, anesthesiologists, surgical nurses, and other professionals in the operating room while viewing a live open heart surgery via video conference with Advocate Christ Hospital.
“Throughout the surgery, students were able to speak to the doctors and nurses both about the procedure and their careers,” said teacher Jennifer Pryor. “After the conclusion of the program, students were energized and excited about their future careers and valued this experience as one that will motivate them to succeed in school and plan for their future.”
