On Thursday, May 11th, Joliet Central High School’s Brother 2 Brother club, sponsored by Joliet Central teachers Ernest Crim and Gandhi Schlote, visited Springfield for the educational “Page for a Day” program.
Through “Page for a Day”, legislators sponsor Illinois students to serve as pages in the State Capitol during the legislative session. This experience is both educational and rewarding as students assist legislators with daily tasks and observe the legislative process firsthand.
Joliet Central seniors Jamari Butler, Jeremiah Crisostomo and Moises Garcia shadowed Senator Pat McGuire and Joliet Central juniors DeRonte Singletary, Nathaneal Sellers and Javier Fuentes shadowed Representative Larry Walsh, Jr.
Crim said, “Our kids need more exposure to what they can become as opposed to being overexposed to negativity. Thank you for allowing our young men the opportunity to shadow you Pat McGuire, State Senator, and Rep. Larry Walsh, Jr.”
