Joliet Alternate High School hosted the Chicago Area Alternative Education League (CAAEL) Football Tournament on Tuesday, October 17, 2017. The JT Alternate High School football team was awarded the Sportsmanship Award.
Joliet Alternate High School had six schools from Chicago and the surrounding suburbs, with a total of 80-90 students attending the tournament. The event concluded with an awards ceremony and luncheon in the Multipurpose Room of the Alternate School.
Joliet Alternate High School Director LaTanya Harris said, “Marty Knuth, a CAAEL representative, said giving the JT Alternate team the Sportsmanship Award was a unanimous decision among all participating schools in the tournament. A unanimous decision is usually not the norm among the judges in the sportsmanship category.”
The JT Alternate team consisted of students Adrian Bailey, Cameron Gaston, William Lindsey, Jerrell Pugh, Shambrea Reddick-Bradley, Dar’Mony Sims, Brandon Sulkar, Antoine Williams, and Zion Williams.
Harris said, “I would like to give a special thanks to the volunteer coaches: Brandon Christensen, Francis Nowak and Lawrence Rodgers. Lynn Plarski facilitated the entire event and Dennis Brady was the welcoming host for CAAEL. Without these people this tournament would not have been a success.”
JTHS congratulations the JT Alternate School Football team for their sportsmanship, leadership and teamwork.
