Persuant to Sec. 10-21.9 of the Illinois School Code, as of January 1, 2011, all teachers seeking a substitute position in Illinois schools are required to register with the Regional Office of Education and qualify for a "Certificate of Authorization" in the county where they wish to teach.

JTHS is in need of qualified paraprofessional substitutes! In order to qualify, you must have a paraprofessional endorsed educator license with stipulations (ELS-Paraprofessional) issued from the Illinois State Board of Education.
Current Qualifications for Obtaining an ELS-Paraprofessional License
- Must hold a high school diploma or GED AND
- 60 semester hours of credit from a regionally accredited institution of higher education OR
- An associate’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution of higher education OR
- ACT WorkKeys assessment scores: Applied Mathematics - 4; Reading for Information - 4; Business Writing – 3; more information for the WorkKeys tested offered by Joliet Junior College or South Suburban College.
Once you have obtained your ELS License from the Will County Regional Office of Education (located at 702 W. Maple St., New Lenox, IL 60451) and would like to become a paraprofessional substitute at JTHS #204, please fill out an application online and contact Stacy Cooper at 815-727-6876 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
District 204 cooperates with various colleges and universities with approved teacher-training programs to place student teachers in our schools. Students interested in a student teaching placement with District 204 should contact their college or university.
