GEOMETRY HONORS
GRADES 9, 10
1 CREDIT
2 SEMESTERS
1.2 GRADE WT.
Prerequisites: Students must meet district honors criteria. Freshmen who qualify for the honors program may enroll if they are currently enrolled in the high school algebra course taught at their junior high school. Honors recommendations are made in collaboration with the Curriculum Director and the 8th grade teacher.
Students will analyze characteristics and properties of two and three-dimensional geometric figures and will develop and prove mathematical arguments about geometric relationships. They will apply geometric definitions, postulates, theorems, and formulas to solve problems numerically, algebraically, in proof, in probability and in the rectangular coordinate system.
REMARKS: Texas Instrument Graphing Calculator (TI-84 plus or TI-NSpire) is strongly recommended.
